In Japan, English learners mainly focus on studying grammar, mostly for school exams and entrance tests. However, simply memorizing English sentences isn't effective if there's no opportunity to use them, especially when we primarily live in a Japanese-speaking environment. Without practice, learned English quickly fades. Creating spaces for practice can help anyone become fluent in English. Speaking English isn't inherently difficult; what's crucial is having the chance to practice. Much of the grammar required for university entrance exams isn't necessary for everyday conversation. In fact, with the vocabulary and grammar learned in three years of junior high school—around 1500 words—anyone can speak English freely in daily life. It's our misconception that English is difficult that prevents us from speaking it fluently when needed. Just as reading about swimming won't make you a swimmer without getting into the pool, speaking English requires actually speaking it. Like any sport or skill, practice is essential. Our free English conversation classes provide a starting point, encouraging participants to speak from their surroundings, starting with self-introductions and gradually progressing to more complex conversations. We welcome everyone to join us and, with further learning, believe that fluency in English is achievable. Our classes generally take place on Thursdays from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, but please refer to Elizabeth Foreign Language Institute's website or MyNavi for any sudden changes. Feel free to call us for any inquiries. Please note that classes are held once a month to avoid any confusion. Below are the scheduled dates for our free English conversation classes in April 2024:
